On top of being a busy photographer, Salem, OR based photographer, Mellissa, also teaches flash workshops. She uses flash in 90% of her photography and loves to teach others how to obtain amazing images through the use of off camera lighting. Mellissa travels all over the continental USA as well as internationally to hold her workshops. Her approach is to get very natural looking photographs without the dramatic flash look.

A previous attendee's email she sent after attending the flash workshop:

"I work in education so I can be quite picky but I thoroughly enjoyed your workshop from start to finish. I thought it was well-organized and structured perfectly so that it was clear what we were doing. The power-point and book was perfect and the detailed person in me even loved the timing of the turns down to the second.
I've taken a few flash workshops online and in person already and I thought yours was the easiest to understand. I have never walked through all of the buttons on my flash and that was the highlight for me, now knowing what each button is for. I know it seems small, but that was my favorite part. You seemed to have put a lot of work into all the details, even the locations, and the poses. I really enjoyed meeting photographers new to me, and am looking forward to everyone's work.
Thank you so very much! I hope you had safe travels and come back to Hawaii very soon!" -- Keao S
