Michelle + Ryan
Love at the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon
Photography: Salem, Oregon wedding photographer- Serendipity Photography, LLC by Mellissa Stanturf
Michelle and Ryan are beautiful souls. Michelle contacted me a stranger, but after her & Ryan's session they left my friends. Their story of love and determination inspired me. The session they wanted allowed my creative juices to flow and I couldn't have been happier with the results.
Their session planning started months before their actual session. Michelle contacted me telling me that she wanted a very classy couple's session celebrating their love for one another and the achievements she's had physically within the last few years.
You see- Michelle has always been an absolutely beautiful person inside and out, of that I am sure, but, she was unhappy with her outside appearance and finally decided she "deserved more." Sixteen months of hard work, lifestyle change, and the support and love from Ryan, Michelle lost 140 lbs. That is quite literally a person.
When friends talk about Michelle and Ryan they always state that no matter what size Michelle was Ryan never looked at her as a number on a scale. He talked about her strengths, her personality, her mind. She was his moon and stars. Nothing has changed that. Michelle is healthier now, but she was always BEAUTIFUL.
I was honored to learn more about them, hear Michelle's story, and plan with them the first photography session since losing the weight.
Thank you to these two for allowing me the opportunity to photograph them and their love for one another.
While Ryan changed into his tux- Michelle and I took a few portraits of her. She has such a regal look to her. And, in my opinion she looks a lot like Rachel McAdams!
After a few shots of Michelle in the black dress she changed into a gorgeous red dress. Ladies- she found it on Amazon. She's worn it a few times and highly recommends it.
We were only able to stay at the Benson a short time as they were hosting a wedding and were super kind enough to let us use their building. We wanted to make sure we didn't interrupt the couple getting married. We decided to travel to Pittlock Mansion on the outskirts of Portland. If you haven't been there I suggest you go. It's a gorgeous place with a wonderful view of Portland. I suggest watching the sunset from the lookout.
If you are looking for a wedding photographer or needing couple's portraits- I'd love to chat.
