Chef Duane is the local boy, from Forest Grove that always had the drive to be successful. An entrepreneur at an early age, he was driven to find means of making money whether it be landscaping, fixing bikes or cleaning golf balls that he found and selling them at the golf course, but his biggest passion was learning how to cook from his Grandma, Mother, and his Auntie. Chef Duane's humble beginnings date back to working as a dishwasher at the opening of the Epcot Center in 1986. He worked his way up to lead dishwasher, then all around helper dividing his time between the kitchen and the front of the house.
Chef Duane ended up leaving Florida and returned to Oregon where he gained employment with Red Lobster as the head expo chef. Subsequently upon ending employment with Red Lobster, he became the Lead Broiler for TGI Fridays traveling the country opening new locations for TGI Fridays, , gaining a solid foundation with his culinary skills.
Chef Duane is very open about his troubled early years which landed him in legal trouble and subsequent negative encounters with the law leaving him with a past. Celebrating 12 years of recovery and a strong member of the recovery community, Chef Duane is a true testament that with faith, a strong support group of family and friends, a passion for the culinary arts and a drive to make positive changes in his life, that anything can be achieved. He has proven that with his dedication to his craft and his drive to stay on the right path, not only for himself, but to be a role model for his children.
