It was one of the beautiful sunny days in May that Karma & Malcolm professed their love for one another and united as one. The Weigand Chapel at the Marylhurst University was the perfect spot for their intimate and (super quick!) ceremony. Family and friends then gathered into the Flavia Hall located on the campus for the reception and dinner.
The bride got hair & makeup done at her hair dresser's home and then finished getting dressed and into her wedding gown at the University. A blistering 96 degrees that day and not a cloud in the sky.
Karma had her bridesmaids help her get ready and her and Malcolm's children were also present and participating in helping their mother get ready.
Malcolm had his groomsmen helping him. After putting on the wrong shirt and then changing into the right shirt he was ready for his first look. The first time he'd see his soon to be bride. It was quite emotional for him and one of the sweetest moments I've captured on camera.
The first look we did down by the walking bridge and in front of the greenery. It was nice because it was one of the few shaded areas around as well!
Even though this couple had been together for a few years the thought of getting married to his best friend had this soon to be groom emotional.
The bridal party. Such a good looking group of people.
The ceremony area was incredible. Loved the inside area with the high ceilings and the unique architecture.
Their ceremony may have been short ( a record for me with I believe literally only 5 minutes) but, it was still beautiful. Karma had her father walk her down the aisle and the joy in the room as they stated their love for one another was evident. I heard several say, "What a beautiful wedding" as they were heading to the reception area for cocktail hour.
As guests filed out of the church and to the Flavia Hall reception area, the couple and I got ready for their couple's portraits.
Now for the the party to start. Dinner, dancing, first dances, bouquet and garter tosses!
Dinner consisted of marsala chicken, new york roast, garden salad, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, and rosemary fingerlings. The caterers did a phenomenal job on this setup and food preparation.
After cake their were the toasts. Karma's father and maid of honor said a few words as did Malcolm's best man.
Karma surprised Malcolm with a handgun under her garter. Right before the garter and bouquet toss, Karma feigned needing to use the restroom and hid the revolver in her garter. Malcolm was quite surprised.
And, they danced the evening away......
