Sitting on top of the world at Strangeland Vineyards in Salem, Oregon this family was amazing for their portrait session. Charity contacted me wanting a vineyard location for her family's portraits and Strangeland's gorgeous scape worked out perfectly for them.
It was a beautiful and warm day in June with the sun shining and a slight breeze to cool us off when we made it to Strangeland Vineyards.
The vineyard has a tasting room open 12pm to 5pm. The interior brings little Italy into reality. The wine is exceptional so be sure to try it!
I love to capture portraits of moms with their children and dads with their children because I know how important it is to show these times in our children's lives with us as parents in them. These little ones are only little for so long, but these portraits will be cherished for generations. The way these girls look at their momma or hold her is so beautiful. The same goes for the way they look at their dad. So much can be said in a look and you don't need any words.
The Garcia family has two girls and they were such a delight to photograph. I could tell they were use to being in front of the camera and I had treats of Skittles when they were all finished.
Charity had impeccable taste for her wardrobe selection and I assisted her in choosing her husband's attire. We wanted something that accented the girl's attire as well as her own and complimented the beautiful surroundings that the vineyard gave us.
Living in such a beautiful area gives us such a wide array of location choices, but this little vineyard on the hill was such a perfect location for their family portraits.
As the sun was setting behind the hills we did a few couple's portraits as I always like to incorporate a few portraits of mom and dad into their family session. This couple had such a beautiful chemistry. In order to get some natural emotion in the portraits I have my families do things that would evoke an emotion I'm trying to convey in their portraits. Ask any of them- sometimes it's downright silly. From singing songs to whispering secrets, to telling jokes. We enjoy making memories!
When the session is over and the portraits are delivered I want these families to have positive memories of their time spent with me. I want them to remember their session with fondness so whenever they look at their portraits they smile and think back to what they were doing at the time they were taken.
A big thank you to the Garcia family for entrusting me with their beautiful family portraits here in beautiful wine country Oregon. I can't wait for your next session!
